Mesotherapy is a cosmetic procedure that has been practiced since the 1950s. Who is a good candidate for Mesotherapy and LipoDissolve?
Mesotherapy is effective for healthy patients between the ages of 18-75, who are looking for the therapeutic benefits of weight loss, spot weight reduction, and cellulite reduction. Mesotherapy and LipoDissolve are not designed as significant weight loss or weight management treatments. Any patient that is pregnant, on blood thinners, insulin-dependent diabetics, on heart arrhythmias medication, have severe heart disease, or have cancer can not receive Mesotherapy injections.
LipoDissolve injections are safe for most patients; however, pregnant or nursing women, obese patients, anyone with diabetes, autoimmune diseases, vascular complications, or anyone with any type of injection are not candidates for this procedure. As with any medical treatment patients are strongly urged to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly.
What happens when I come in for a treatment session?
The process begins with an initial consultation, in which you will discuss your medical history, what you would like treated, and any concerns you may have. Your doctor may also discuss with you allergy testing. For most patients receiving Mesotherapy, the treatment sessions do not begin during this initial consultation; your doctor will set up a treatment schedule with you (for most patients it is weekly treatments). LipoDissolve patients generally will need between 4 and 6 sessions, depending on the area and size of the fat deposits. LipoDissolve treatments are usually spaced 4-6 weeks apart to allow for the optimal benefits of this therapy.
For patients who are sensitive to pain, your doctor may offer a topical anesthetic to help numb the area. Your doctor will then begin the injection process. You will receive several microinjections. The length of your appointment time will depend on what is being treated. Your doctor can discuss this with you further.
What happens after Mesotherapy or LipoDissolve?
After a Mesotherapy treatment you may experience soreness; this should diminish within 24-48 hours. During this time you should also avoid exercise or any strenuous activity that may interfere with your results. After this time period, your doctor may advise that you take hot baths to help promote your treatment and you can resume your daily routine.
LipoDissolve patients may experience slight bruising after a treatment session. There is little to no downtime, so patients can resume their normal activities quickly (within 1-2 days).
When will I see results and how long will they last?
Results from Mesotherapy vary because it depends greatly on your body type and the specific condition being treated. Many patients report noticing improvement within 2-3 sessions, and in some cases, patients see results after their first treatment. The results from your Mesotherapy treatments will last (maintaining proper diet and exercise will also help to ensure this), however, this does not stop the natural aging process, so maintenance sessions are recommended.
LipoDissolve results appear gradually and may take a few months to become very noticeable. For smaller areas being treated results may be visible within a few weeks. A visible loss of 2-3 inches of fat usually requires 4-6 sessions. The results are not permanent because any patients that gain weight will find that the fat will return as well. However, patients who maintain proper nutrition and exercise regularly find the results to last.
Are there any side effects?
Although Mesotherapy is safe, a common side effect is bruising (which usually fades within one week). Other possible side effects include injection site inflammation and tenderness. Your doctor will discuss the any risks or concerns you may have.
Much like general Mesotherapy the complications of LipoDissolve are minimal including, slight bruising, infection, burning sensation, swelling, and possible allergic reaction which your doctor can easily treat as needed, although in most cases bruising and slight swelling diminish over time.
